About reelgood:

Our Name:
We hope that the selection of the name reelgood explains itself. The name demonstrates the site's role as a searchable movie database and expresses the experience we want every user to have. We want users to be able to find movies by searching a variety of categories, and then supply you with the tools to take your interest in that movie a step further. Users are able to add movies to their favorites, rate movies on multiple dimensions, and save their searches. We want to also connect the movie searching process to the world by connecting the latest news about actors to the movies they starred in, relating the headlines with bodies of work. We want you to leave our site feeling reelgood about the time you spent with us.

History:
The reelgood website was designed and implemented as a part of the inaugural 6.470 Website Design Competition during January 2008. The main goal of the design was to design a sharp, clean, website that allows users to search for movies. We also wanted to create a personable site, one with a personality.

With the task of creating a movie search engine website that incorporated a mash-up of dynamic information, the team decided to tie together headlines featuring actors with their cinematic bodies of work. In this way we combine the constantly updating headlines with our database of information. Another important feature of the site is that it allows users to personalize their experience by creating accounts, saving their searches, adding favorite movies, and rating movies.
